To secure a job as a lineman apprentice, you need a resume that demonstrates that you possess both the technical knowledge necessary to do the job as well as more subjective skills like agility, attentiveness, and a willingness to work under conditions that are often stressful and uncomfortable. The experience and highlights section of your resume will provide evidence of your technical abilities, and your resume summary will fill in the rest.

The summary is the most flexible section of your resume. Take advantage of that, and use it to highlight those soft skills and personality traits that don’t fit elsewhere in your resume. Given the inherent danger of work, employers are going to be very concerned with safety, so highlighting your familiarity with OSHA guidelines and safety protocols is a great way to demonstrate your responsibility and diligence. If you hold any licenses or certifications, be sure to list them as bullets in the highlights section of your resume where they’ll be sure to catch the recruiter’s eye.
